Thermal Imaging

Thermal imaging for defence applications

Melford Resolution helps military customers and defence equipment manufacturers select and source thermal imaging technology. Through our close relationship with Exosens, we support requirements across the thermal imaging portfolio, including technology with Xenics heritage.

We bring UK market knowledge and practical technical support to equipment selection, integration discussions and long-term programmes. Our starting point is the application: what the user needs to see, and how the technology will fit the system.

Choosing thermal imaging technology

Thermal imaging forms an image from emitted infrared radiation. It complements image intensification, which amplifies available light, and supports observation by day and night.

Define the application

Start with the scene, field of view, operating conditions and the detail the user needs to distinguish. Sensor resolution alone does not determine system performance: optics and the complete imaging chain matter.

Choose the right configuration

We help customers discuss spectral band, sensitivity, frame rate, interfaces and cooled or uncooled options with the manufacturer. Size, weight, power and environmental requirements are part of the same decision.

Support integration

Whether the requirement is a camera, module or core, we help clarify the technical specification and connect the right people for integration and supply discussions.
